How do I Become
an MCAC Volunteer?
To become an MCAC office volunteer, please print out and drop
off an MCAC office
volunteer apllication. You will be contacted by the Volunteer
Coordinator to set up an interview time.
For medical professionals who would like to volunteer in-office
or clinic services, please call MCAC at 226-4400 and ask to speak
with the Executive Director.

Job Descriptions
Volunteer Enrollment Counselors:
Enrollment counselors enroll patients into the Medical Access
Program. They are responsible for determining eligibility, educating
clients of the program, completing required forms, and making
referrals to other agencies as appropriate.

Clerical Volunteers:
The daily responsibilities of a general office clerk change with
the needs of the specific jobs. Whereas some clerks spend their
days filing or typing, others enter data at a computer terminal.
They can also be called upon to operate photocopiers, fax machines,
and other office equipment; prepare mailings; proofread copies;
and answer telephones and deliver messages. The office clerk will
generally be responsible for helping the office run smoothly and
operate at the highest performance.
Pharmacy Volunteers:
The pharmacy volunteer will assist patients in accessing
the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (PM) Indigent Patient Programs
(IPP), assist the patient in filling out Rx forms, taking the
forms to the physicians’ offices for signatures, mailing/faxing
the forms to the PMs, ordering subsequent forms when re-ordering
medications for the patient, and calling patients to let them
know that it’s time to re-order or to pick up their medications.
Specialized Volunteers:
Other Volunteer Opportunities: MCAC has volunteers working in
specialized areas including: web development, physical plant,
off-site enrollment volunteers. If you would like to help in a
creative new way, please fill out the application and contact
the volunteer coordinator.
